Christina's blog
Lance has been a little under the weather.
Submitted by Christina on Thu, 09/02/2010 - 2:23pmLance has had a fever and sore throat for three days. Doug took him to the doctor and thankfully it is not strep throat. He just gave him a prescription for an antibotic and said to keep doing what we are doing!!
Tuesday 9/7/2010 will be Lance's pulmonary scan. They are doing this to see if they need to put in a stint now (as in when he has his next cath) or if they can wait until he gets a little older. Of course we are praying for the latter!
We also got some hard to swallow news about my mom. She was diagnosed with Stage 1 Breast Cancer. We are thankful for it being Stage 1, but this is still so hard to swallow. That is one phone call I will never forget!! We all know the power of prayers, so we are needing them for my mom and Lance.
Tuesdays Cath
Submitted by Christina on Fri, 07/09/2010 - 9:35amTuesdays cath went well. We got a great suprise when the cath doors opened and Mr. Richard was there to take Lance back to his room. This got the day off to a great start. Richard was with us pretty much through Lance's whole journey in CICU last year. He means so much to us and always makes us at ease. I remember last year when we couldn't be back there when doctors were making their rounds, we felt like family was back with him.
Richard transferred to the cath lab and Tuesday was his first day and Lance was his first patient. Tuesdays appt was a big one since it was his annual exam post-transplant. While we were there some of his buddies from the hospital stopped by to see how well he was doing and share stories of him while he was at camp. All of this helped keep my mind off of what was going on. They said Lance didn't miss an event at camp and did so well.

It is time for little man's one year biopsy!
Submitted by Christina on Mon, 07/05/2010 - 10:09pmThis has been a great year filled with lots of fun and laughter (2010). Lance and Emory are loving summer time and little road trips to visit any river we can find. It has been so nice and at the moment they are getting along like Best friends instead of brothers, but this could change by the time I get done with this blog. Emory has decided he is now Lance's baseball coach and says he sees much improvement in him.
They are planning on staying up all night since we have to have Lance at the hospital by 7am tomorrow morning, so party on boys (that way him not being able to eat in the morning, will go smoothly since he will be so tired from being up all night). At the moment they are on the porch searching for critters.

Camp Braveheart
Submitted by Christina on Tue, 05/25/2010 - 11:43amThis past weekend was so wonderful. Emory and Lance both had baseball games and played really well. We then had a mini Birthday party for Emory until we can fit in his party with his friends. After that we went to the Dixie Cruisers Car show to benefit Lance. The third time is the charm. The weather was great and so was the turn-out. There were lots of nice people and cars there. They had facepainting for the kids and Lance,Emory, Tffany, Tyler, and TJ sold glow bracelets. It was a great day!!
We are so Thankful for them trying it again and caring so much about Lance's journey.
We are so happy with how well things are going these days. If you would have asked me a year ago I would have never thought our lives would feel this normal again.
Lance's latest cath
Submitted by Christina on Tue, 05/18/2010 - 4:16pmLance had a cath 5-10-2010 and everything was PERFECT!!! All his numbers were exactly where we wanted them. One number we always focused on was his CVP (central venous pressure) and it was 4, prior to his transplant it was 22. It stayed high for a little while after the transplant but Thank God, it came down and is staying down.
He also came off some of his medicine. All but one of his medicines were switched to pills. This is such an answered prayer, because it saves us so much time every day. All we have to do is stock the pill box and Lance gets up in the morning and takes his medicine. He can actually swallow several at a time, he showed me how he could do it!! Things are going so great!!
We want to Thank everyone for all of the support and love!! (More below)
Sorry to bother you -but I need your help!!!
Submitted by Christina on Mon, 05/03/2010 - 2:48pmLance's Big Brother Emory is entered in a contest and if you would vote for him it would really help his chances!!!! I think this would be really great for Emory !! If you don't mind vote for him and you can do it every day!! Feel free to spread the word!!! Thank you so much!!

What a difference a year makes!!
Submitted by Christina on Mon, 04/19/2010 - 6:46pmApril 16th,2009 we were heading to a hotel close to the hospital so that we could be at the hospital at 6am. Lance was going in for his second heart surgery, the Fontan. We had held off on this surgery as long as we could. Since Lance was 6 months old, we knew that having this surgery, started the time clock ticking (we thought we had a 20 year window) to Lance needing a new heart. So we all went in to this surgery with a heavy heart, because we knew that the clock was being started.
